Sheriff's Department Investigating Morning Incident w/Westside School Bus

JONESBORO, AR - Authorities with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department are investigating an incident this morning that involved a Westside School District bus.

Sheriff Jack McCann said the incident occured as a Westside bus was running its route, and another vehicle got close to the bus, temporarily forcing the bus off the road's shoulder.  McCann said two students apparently bumped their head in the process, but he was not aware of any serious injuries.  McCann said he did not yet know the time of the incident, or where it occured.  His department was notified of the incident when the Westside resource officer contacted the sheriff's office.

A statement from Westside superintendent Dr. James Best states:

"An incident has been reported to district administration this morning that allegedly occured with a Westside school bus.

The district is currently investigating this incident administratively and in cooperation with law enforcement.  More information will be provided as it becomes available."

Best told Region 8 News that he is currently in contact with the district's attorneys, and hoped to have more information later.
