Thousands in Region 8 Without Power

Jonesboro (KAIT) - Strong winds have knocked out power to thousands across Region 8 and much of Arkansas and Southern Missouri this afternoon. 

Entergy is reporting over 21,000 customers without power in Arkansas.  North Arkansas Electric is reporting 14,000 outages.  Craighead Electric, Clay County Electric, and Farmer's Electric Cooperatives are also reporting outages.

If you received this message, it might be a good idea to contact family or friends you think might be without power to make sure they are alright. 

Winds have contributed to damage to the roof of the gymnasium at Pocahontas High School.  Trucks have also been reported blown off roadways near Bay and Hoxie, and there are numerous reports of downed trees and power lines in several area of northeast Arkansas.
