Intense Wind Sweeps Region 8 - Photos Inside

REGION 8 (KAIT) -

  • Fulton County - Minor Wind Damage reported.  Two grass fires, minor, created by strong winds.  No structural damage reported from fires. 
  • Independence County - Multiple roofs detached from homes. 
  • Dunklin County - Structural damage in Senath.  Multiple trees down.  Sheds blown down.  Tin roofs blown off.
  • Ripley County - Trees blown over.
  • Mississippi County - Several downed poles.  Highway 136 blocked due to downed power lines.  18 wheeler blown off I-55 at mile marker 45, leaking diesel fuel.
  • Poinsett County - Trees down in Harrisburg and Trumann.  Report of a tractor trailor down on I-55 blocking traffic.
  • Izard County - Downed power lines.
  • Sharp County - Trees down.
  • Craighead County - Power outages, trees down, power poles down.  There is roof damage to Garden Manor apartments.  Wal-Greens on Highland in Jonesboro reportedly damaged.  Large limbs down.  Roof damage to buildings.  Siding and roof blown off of older house.  Telephone poles down on Goobertown Road.
  • Randolph County - Pocahontas High School gym roof damage, partially detached.  Classes are canceled tomorrow for Pocahontas Public Schools.  A semi was overturned near 63 and 67 near Hoxie at the interchange.  An individual grass fire was reported.
  • Clay County- Power outages throughout Clay County.
  • Lawrence County - Gusts estimated at 70 MPH, sustained at 44 MPH.  Damage to farm building.  18 wheeler blown off of road south of Hoxie, 50 gallons of diesel spilled.
  • Greene County - Damage to roofs, fences.  Small limbs down.  Power outages.
  • Pemiscot County - Roof damage.  Garage door damage.  Numerous trees down.
  • Shelby County - Several trees down on Billy Mayer Road, between Egypt Central and Old Brownsville Roads.
