Hearing in Accused Newport Murder-for-Hire Plot Moved to June

AUGUSTA, AR - A pretrial hearing for a Newport funeral home director charged with planning to kill the city's mayor and assistant police chief has been re-set for June 20.

Lawrence Tollerson is charged with two counts of criminal solicitation to commit capital murder.  Authorities said he plotted to kill Newport Mayor David Stewart and Assistant Newport Police Chief James Duvall.  Police said Tollerson targeted Duvall on the mistaken impression that he was the police chief.

Tollerson remains free on $250,000 bond and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.  He owns Tollerson and Sons Funeral Home in Newport.
