MEMPHIS, TN - A suspected Memphis drug dealer on the U.S. Marshall's most-wanted list has been indicted after more than five years on the run in Mexico.
The 56-count indictment was returned Wednesday against Craig Petties and six co-defendants accused of conspiring with him to sell illegal drugs, commit murder and kidnapping.
The indictment alleges that Petties ran a drug operation that brought large amounts of marijuana and cocaine to Memphis as well as to Mississippi, Texas, Georgia and North Carolina.
The 31-year-old had been on the run since 2002 when he was indicted on federal drug and money laundering charges. He was deported to the U.S. on January 16.
Authorities seized several millions worth of property believed to be owned by Petties, including more than a dozen luxury vehicles and two houses worth about $500,000 each.
