State Trooper Killed in I-40 Crash Today

DYER, AR - A state trooper has died from injuries from a traffic crash with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 40 in Crawford County.

State police identified the trooper as Sergeant Richard C. LeBow, 51, of Ozark.  LeBow died following the collision in the eastbound lanes of I-40, at approximately 10a:25 a.m.  The driver of the truck was taken to a Fort Smith hospital for injuries.  The truck driver's identity has not yet been released.

Traffic on the highway was stopped as firefighters worked to put out a fire at the accidenet scene.

LeBow is the nineteenth Arkansas State Trooper to die in the line of duty since the department was established 73 years ago.
