Hino to Mark Grand Opening at Marion Plant

MARION, AR - Hino Motors is to hold a formal grand opening Thursday for its parts plant in Marion.

The Marion facility produces axles for Toyota Tundra pickups and opened in March 2006.  The factory reached its production goals of 1,200 axles per day last May.  Hino is investing an additional $70 million at the plant, which now has 600 workers.

Toyota is the majority owner of Hino.

Marion economic development director Kay Brockwell says about 200 people are expected to attend the ceremony, including Governor Beebe and a number of executives from Hino, Toyota and their suppliers.

Brockwell says the event will help the state promote Marion as a good site for a full auto assembly plant.
