Trial Date Set for Suspected SeMo Dogfighting Ring

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - A trial date of June 17 has been set for one of three men allegedly involved with a Stoddard County dogfighting ring.

Curtis Pickering of South Fulton, Tennessee, pleaded not guilty Monday to three counts of dogfighting in Cape Girardeau County Circuit Court.

Pickering was arrested October 20 at the residence of Jamie Sifford, of Dudley, after authorities said they found evidence of dogfighting.

Sifford faces trial for dogfighting and drug-related charges.

A third man, Jessey Short of Cape Girardeau, is scheduled for trial May 12 on dogfighting charges.

Sifford and Short's cases remain in Stoddard County.

The Humane Society of Missouri is caring for 26 dogs found when the arrests were made.
