TORRENTIAL RAINS WAS MOVING NORTHEAST ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTHEAST
MISSOURI. THESE STORMS HAVE A HISTORY OF PRODUCING HOURLY RAINFALL
AMOUNTS AS HIGHS AS ONE INCH PER HOUR. THE AREA OF STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE INTO THE LATE EVENING HOURS BEFORE
COMING TO AN END. TOTAL RAINFALL FROM THIS SYSTEM COULD BE AS HIGH
AS 3 INCHES OR MORE.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE ELEVATED LEVELS ON
SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...AND PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN
AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER POOR
DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

EVENING SOUTH OF A LINE FROM NEAR POPLAR BLUFF MISSOURI TO VIENNA
ILLINOIS...TO MARION KENTUCKY...TO NEAR HOPKINSVILLE KENTUCKY.
THERE IS A MODERATE RISK OVER THE REST OF THE AREA.

THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE ON THE INCREASE THROUGHOUT THE AFTERNOON
HOURS. THESE STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO BE SCATTERED IN NATURE AND
THEY MAY DEVELOP INTO SUPERCELLS.

THESE STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE INTO THE EVENING HOURS.

LATER THIS EVENING...THERE MAY BE A SQUALL LINE WHICH DEVELOPS
ALONG THE COLD FRONT WHICH WILL MOVE THROUGH SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
THIS EVENING...REACHING THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER BY MIDNIGHT...THEN
EXITING THE AREA AROUND 2 OR 3 IN THE MORNING.

THE HIGHEST RISK FOR SEVERE WEATHER APPEARS TO BE BETWEEN THE
HOURS OF 4PM AND 2AM. DAMAGING WINDS AND LARGE HAIL ARE THE
PRIMARY CONCERNS WITH ANY SEVERE STORMS...BUT TORNADIC STORMS
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING LONG TRACK TORNADOES ARE ALSO POSSIBLE.

* WITH AREA SOILS STILL RATHER SATURATED DUE TO RECENT
  PRECIPITATION...RAINFALL OF THIS MAGNITUDE WILL LIKELY PRODUCE
  LOCALIZED FLOODING...ESPECIALLY IN LOW LYING AND FLOOD PRONE
  AREAS. IN ADDITION...STREETS AND ROADWAYS IN URBAN AREAS WILL
  BE AT A HEIGHTENED RISK OF FLOODING.
