The Aftermath of the Severe Storms in Stone County

STONE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - "A direct hit" is the language used to describe Mountain View.  The city's hospital was damaged and an adjacent clinic was destroyed as well as an ambulence service.

That makes the closest hospital 30 miles away.

Bill Callaway, Vital Link Ambulance Service, "It's devastating to this community.  We're so rural."

Dr. Ron Simpson, Mt. View Family Practice Clinic, "The storm hit and blew away a lot of the clinic that I was in."  Dr. Simpson rode the storm out and then went to the damaged hospital to help the people there.

Officials say the damage to the hospital is severe.  Major reconstruction will be needed but they do still have a functioning ER for any emergencies.
