Stone County Sheriff's Office Equipment Needs

The Stone County Sheriff's office in Mountain View has sent out an urgent plea to residents outside their immediate area for the following items:

  • Generators
  • Chainsaws
  • Cans of Gasoline
  • Batteries
  • Flashlights
  • Alternative Heat Sources (Kerosene heaters, etc.)

Please deliver these items directly to the Stone County Sheriff's Office at 1009 Sheriffs Drive in Mountain View (map).  

To volunteer to help with cleanup activites, contact the Stone County Sheriff's Office directly at (870)269-3825.

Additonal relief efforts are forming around Region 8. Stay tuned to KAIT-TV and for details on these relief efforts as they develop.

Ozarka College Career Pathways Office has started a collection effort as well.  In addition to monetary donations, people can donate the following items:

  • Non-Perishable Food Items
  • Water
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Toiletries
  • Paper Products

People wanting to make a donation may do so at Ozarka College campuses in Ash Flat, Mountain View, or Melbourne.  The Career Pathways office, Human Resource Reception Office in the John E. Miller Building (Melbourne campus, office C117, Michelle Cooper) can assist.

The area in and around Mountain View will continue to be without electricity possible until the middle of next week.  Primary power transmission lines that provide electricity to the area were destroyed by Tuesday's powerful tornado.
