Governor Beebe, State Officials, FEMA, Tour Storm Battered Highland

HIGHLAND, AR (KAIT) -- "Arkansans band together to try and ease the burden," said Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe.

Alongside officials from FEMA, Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe and Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln saw just how big the burden is as they toured Highland on Friday to see the devastation first hand.

"When you fly over it, and see the path of the tornado and you determine the path of it, it's pretty amazing.  What's really amazing is that no one died out here," said Beebe.

"You know they are going to have tough days ahead, but you know with all of them working together they will come back stronger than ever," said Arkansas Senator, Mark Pryor.

Governor Beebe says FEMA is on the ground and helping families with assistance, including temporary housing.

Governor Beebe says while the devastation is far reaching, he's not a bit surprised by how much has already been done by Arkansas residents battered by the storm.
