Your Morning

Clouds are building up and we may see some showers later in the day and into Tuesday.  Chris Castleman will have the full forecast on Good Morning Region 8.

A Craighead County deputy is in the hospital this morning in serious condition after flipping her patrol car on Highway 638, just west of Bay.  Donna Cromwell and her K-9 were responding to a burglary call when she lost control and flipped several times.  At last word, she was in serious condition and doctors at the Med in Memphis were trying to stabilize her condition.

Folks in Sharp County are rebuilding this morning after last weeks storms.  It's a slow process, but they're getting a little help.  The Air-Land Emergency Resource Team, which includes Texan Chris Overby, was there to help with the hands-on work as well as to offer encouragement.  "Even with the discouragement of losing a home they realize that they're still alive." added Overby.  And the care and concern was noticeable, echoed by those in Sharp, "You just can't believe that people are that kind to you, they're concerned." said Hayden Stotts.

The small town of Dumas is also doing what it can to repay a favor.  A crew of volunteers from the town transported a load of generators from their county to damaged communities hit by Tuesday's storms.  Dumas was hit by a tornado last year, but came back thanks to the support given to them by volunteer service.

Arkansans who suffered damages during tornado Tuesday should register for disaster assistance as soon as possible.  Residents and business owners in Baxter, Pope, Sharp, Stone and Van Buren Counties are currently eligible for individual assistance.  These individuals are urged to register by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362), or for the speech or hearing impaired, TTY 1-800-462-7585. The toll-free telephone number to register for assistance has operators available from 7 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
