Three Counties Added to Unemployment Assistance List

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Three more Arkansas counties have been added to the list of those authorized for unemployment assistance after last week's deadly storms.

The state Department of Workforce Services says Conway, Izard and Randolph counties were added to the list that already includes Baxter, Pope, Sharp, Stone and Van Buren counties.

People who have temporarily lost jobs in the eight counties because of the Feb. 5 disaster and do not qualify for regular unemployment benefits may be eligible for the federal assistance, which provides unemployment benefits up to 26 weeks.

Claims must be filed within four weeks.
