Four Memphis Motels Shutdown Due to Alleged Prostitution, Drug Deals

MEMPHIS, TN - Four Memphis motels have been shut down by the Shelby County District Attorney's office after police say an undercover investigation found prostitution, theft and drug deals.

Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons says officers have made numerous undercover drug buys and even saw crack cocaine cooked on a hot plate in a room at the Lamplighter Motor Inn.

The Bellevue Inn, Royal Inn and Suites, and Garden Inn and Suites also were closed as part of the undercover operation by the Memphis Police Department called Operation Heartbreak Hotel.

The cases are scheduled to be heard at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Environmental Court.
