Your Morning

Today will be a nicer day with temperatures warming up into the upper 40s and possibly even the low 50s.  Winds will pick up across Region 8, though.  Chris Castleman will have the full forecast on Good Morning Region 8.

The Envision Nightclub faces three new charges by the ABC board stemming from a weekend shooting in North Jonesboro.   The nightclub could lose its liquor license if the ABC board decides to press charges of maintaining a disorderly house, allowing underage people inside when no food service is available, and serving alcohol to people underage.   In a recording with Jonesboro police, the underage suspect who allegedly fired several shots at the club says he was served alcohol by the club.

The ASU mascot change rolls on and with the name "Wolves" a near lock-in for the new choice (despite whether or not it will be "Red Wolves" or simply "Wolves"), a notable ASU alum weighed in on the mascot change.  That man is Governor Mike Beebe.  Beebe said, "I'm an Indian.  I'm still an Indian.  I'll always be an Indian.  I'll be happy with whatever they end up doing. I'll support it no matter whatever it is, the Wolves or Red Wolves, but it's hard to get that Indian out of you to.  I'll be there whatever it is."  Beebe's sentiments are shared by many in Region 8.  Arkansas State will hold a February 28th ceremony to formally retire the Indian name.

On the subject of college, Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says a professor's financial interest should not play a role in textbook materials used to teach his or her courses, which means they can still receive royalties for the sales.  This comes after ASU Chancellor Robert Potts requests the opinion about textbook royalties.  State law directs colleges and universities to establish guidelines of faculty receiving royalties from books they require students to purchase.
