ASU Rugby Players Arrested, Facing Several Charges

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police say seven players of the ASU rugby team will be in court on Wednesday, to answer charges related to their arrests over the weekend.

Police say they were called out to a house party off of Aggie Road.  Police say 7 rugby players fled from them during a party, where police allegedly found bongs, marijuana and a device to measure the substance.

However, ASU rugby coach Curt Huckaby disputes the police report, telling Region 8 News that of the 7 arrests made, only 3 were members of his team, and that those three players were not found to be in possession of any drugs or drug paraphernalia.

Many of the suspects arrested face the following charges:

  • Public intoxication
  • Fleeing
  • Resisting arrest
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of an instrument of a crime
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Possession of a controlled substance without permission
  • Disorderly conduct
