Another Plant in Region 8 Closing Its Doors

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - Another economic blow hits Batesville as the White-Rodgers plant is planning to shut down its operation.

The White-Rodgers plant plans to close its doors after more than 46 years of operation.

The company says the closing is expected in the next 12 to 15 months.

White-Rodgers first announced that it would reduce its workforce down to 260 employees in January of last year but that apparently wasn't enough to keep the operation afloat in Region 8.

Batesville residents, like Terry Stice, are surprised and sad to lose the business.

"This plant has been here as long as I can remember. I've known several people that have worked there and retired. This is going to be a shock to lose it." said Stice.

This is the second plant to close in Batesville in a year.

The GDX plant closed its doors last November after 43 years of operation.
