Your Morning

Parts of Region 8 may be waking up to icy roads but much of this area was lucky enough to avoid any serious ice.  The weekend is stacking up to be nice but we have a slight chance of flurries on Saturday.  Chris Castleman will have the forecast in full on Good Morning Region 8.

A Trumann man will be behind bars for the rest of his life after a sentence is handed down for his role in meth production in Region 8.  37-year old John Soward plead guilty in federal court to drug trafficking and weapons charges.  This isn't his first problem with the law though.  He will be in Craighead County court to enter a plea in a murder case soon.

Also in jail is Westside shooter Mitchell Johnson for allegedly stealing a debit card.  He awaits sentencing on a separate federal charge and now, he faces charges of theft by receiving and financial identity fraud.  He could get up to 30-years in prison or face fines of up to $25,000.

While on the subject of crime, four Arkansas counties have been declared high-intensity drug trafficking areas.  Benton, Jefferson, Pulaski and Washington counties are under the designation, which allows them to be eligible for additional federal funding to fight the spread of drugs, including meth amphetamine, which plagues this part of the nation.

Coming up on Good Morning Region 8...

A Region 8 athlete who made big news on the field is now making news off the field.  Newport High's star running back is in jail this morning.  Lauren Payne will tell you why.

Plus, should Jonesboro be a wet city or not?  It's a topic of discussion with a deep history and a new survey finds people are as divided as ever.  Heather Flanigan reports.

And the "Obama swoon" is the latest catchphrase associated with the charismatic Presidential candidate and Jeanne Moos will explain why it's wooing voters.
