Former Jonesboro Alderman Alec Farmer will be in a New York City courtroom to answer a weapon charge today. Farmer was arrested at LaGuardia International Airport back in January because police say he brought a loaded firearm into the terminal. Farmer, who is considering a mayoral run in Jonesboro, says the arrest is a big mistake. He said he was helping his daughter move and chose to bring a weapon to protect his daughter since she was moving to an unfamiliar area.
Campus police at Arkansas State University make an arrest in connection to this weekend's shooting of a football player. Police say 20-year-old Brice Demand Parker is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm on school grounds after turning himself in. Parker, who isn't a student at ASU, is free on a 25-thousand dollar bond.
To our south, a 10-year-old Little Rock boy faces felony gun charges after allegedly bringing a weapon to school. Police say the boy took the gun and threatened an 11-year-old girl with it. He was charged with possession of a firearm and terroristic threatening. No one was injured at the incident.
