New Students Get New Laptops at Lyon College

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) - New students at Lyon college will get a new tool to help them this fall in the form of laptop computers.

That's because Lyon College officials are providing the computers to all new entering students.  They say the costs of the laptops will be part of tuition for new students entering the four-year college for the 2008-2009 school year.

Students will receive their computers beginning August 21st when new students arrive for orientation.

"We're committed to giving our students the tools they need to be successful at Lyon and the experiences they need to be successful when they graduate." said Wallie Roettger, President of Lyon College.

School officials plan to provide workshops to ensure that everyone knows how to properly use the laptop computers.  Currently, about 500 students attend Lyon College, which is located in Batesville.
