Nestle Reveals $60 Million Expansion Plans for Jonesboro Plant

JONESBORO, AR - Officials with the Nestle company announced this morning in Jonesboro that they will spend more than $60 million to expand their frozen foods manufacturing plant in Jonesboro.

The expansion is expected to bring approximately 200 new jobs to the facility, which is located on Hwy. 18.  The plant currently employs nearly 600 workers.

The expansion will allow for a new bakery to be built which will accomodate pizza production for the Stouffer's and Lean Cuisine frozen prepared meals.  Production is expected to start next year, and about 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space will be added to the plant, which opened in 2003.

Nation Pizza Products of Schaumberg, Illinois, will operate the bakery, which will be connected to the plant and designed for future expansion.

Last summer, Nestle added 200 jobs to the plant, due to the success of the Stouffer's and Lean Cuisine brands, which are sales leaders in the frozen meals sector.
