LITTLE ROCK, AR - A foot of snow piled up today in parts of Arkansas, as an overnight storm system closed schools and jeopardized travel this morning.
The heaviest accumulations fell in a band from Mena and Waldron in western Arkansas, northeast to Danville, Russellville, Mountain View and Salem. The National Weather Service said 6 to 12 inches fell in those areas by mid-morning before temperatures warmed and storms tapered off later in the day.
Less than an inch accumulated in Jonesboro today, while Little Rock saw its first snow of the winter. The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies tomorrow.
