MEMPHIS, TN - A study shows that a 40,000-seat on-campus football stadium for the University of Memphis could be built for roughly $120 million.
The feasibility study obtained Thursday by The Commercial Appeal revealed that the project could be funded by stadium revenues and resources such as student fees, capital fundraising, public funding and rent from events.
The report compiled by Atlanta-based Heery International listed six potential on-campus sites, with costs for building a stadium ranging from $118 million to $151 Million. The costs were adjusted for inflation based on 2010 estimates.
Memphis athletic director R.C. Johnson has scheduled a meeting Tuesday with a 10-member stadium subcommittee to discuss the study.
