Lt. Governor Raises $110K in February for Lottery Proposal

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Lt. Governor Bill Halter's campaign to create a state-run lottery for college scholarships says it raised $110,000 last month.

The "Hope for Arkansas" campaign raised more than $304,631 total and has $83,057 in the bank by the end of February, according to documents filed today with the state Ethics Commission.  The campaign spent $56,991 last month, with most of the money going toward a signature gathering firm.

Halter is trying to gather 78,000 voter signatures to place the lotter measure on the November 4 ballot.  He's estimated that a lottery could raise $100 million annually if approved by voters.
