State to Crack Down on Youthful Drunken Drivers

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas State Police are preparing a special initiative to combat underage drinking and driving.

Troopers will work with local law enforcement on Friday and Saturday to catch young people who were drinking before they got behind the wheel.  The enforcement action comes at the start of prom season.  State Police Director Winford Phillips says there will be zero tolerance for anyone younger than 21 who has been drinking.

State police say that every year young people are killed during proms or celebrations to mark the end of the school year.

More than 40 other states will conduct a similar enforcement action.
