Izard County Cleans Up ... Again

IZARD COUNTY, AR (KAIT)- The cleanup continues of not one but two natural disasters.

"We had a lot of homes on the White River down here that have been swept away," said Izard County Judge, Rayburn Finley.

Izard County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator, Dennis Wililams, says an already difficult relief and recovery mission after the February 5th tornado that touched down in communities like Sage and Zion, has been dealt another blow at the hand of mother nature.

"Some of our road ditches that we hadn't got to, this water has pushed debris down and it's washed over the roads," said Williams.

When the White River flooded it's banks it left many homes completely destroyed.

The devestation spread far and wide along the banks of the river, in Guion, a town of only about 90 people.

The cause of so much of this mess ...

"Flood water and the debris catching on the houses and taking them down."
