Spring River Rises Again

CALICO ROCK (KAIT) - It's a historic release from Lake Norfork. Thousands of gallons into the Spring River.

It's the first major relase of floodwater in this century.  The Tainer gates are open on the dam at Norfork sending a huge amount of water into the otherwise calm White River.

In Calico Rock flood waters are chewing away at railroad trackbeds, destroying cabins along the river and threatening to take loose floating fishing docks.

The town itself has water from Calico Creek filling up motel rooms just recently emptied of flood waters from last month.

For now the floodgates will stay open and the water will move South into already saturated counties and farm lands.
