Your Morning - KAIT Jonesboro, AR - Region 8 News, weather, sports

Your Morning

Today, we will see temperatures unseasonably cold with highs only in the 60s and lows in the 30s.  Tuesday will bring about warmer temperatures again and by Wednesday, we will be at the average for this time of the year (70s).  Showers will move in by the end of the week though.  We'll show you the 7-day forecast on Good Morning Region 8.

Officials with the National Weather Service say it will be months before lakes in Arkansas will drop down to levels they were at before nearly a month of heavy rain.   Millions of gallons of water have been dumped into the White River from the Beaver, Table Rock and Norfork Lakes, and the spillway at Bull Shoals Lake will remain open until Tuesday.   The White River at Calico Rock crested at 40.23 feet.   State engineers say all they can do is hope for no more rain.

Just one day after a levee break along the Black River, residents in Missouri are finding relief.   Officials in Butler County say the water level has dropped and the river is back in its bank.   The evacuation shelter in the county is now closed after more than 50 families had to seek assistance when a levee broke.   Officials are still waiting for the water to go down to assess the damage.

One Region 8 teenager is dead after a fatal accident over the weekend.   The incident happened off of Highway 49 in Greene County.   Trae McDonald Roach of Paragould was walking in a ditch before wandering onto the road.   That's when he was hit by a vehicle.   McDonald was pronounced dead at the hospital.   The driver of the vehicle was not injured.   This is the third teen from Paragould killed in the last week.
