Feds End Meth Ring in Region Eight

LITTLE ROCK (KAIT)-  In Little Rock, Thursday, the U.S. Attorney's office announced that a major Meth ring operating in Eastern Arkansas had been stopped.

In all 52 people were arrested and more than 100 pounds of Methamphetamine ICE was confiscated.

The ring was operating out of Batesville and was trafficing ICE across state lines in a multi-state and multi-country operation.

At the head was Octavio and Argelia Herrerra.  The married couple was arrested near Batesville.

Still on the loose is Felipe Valdez, but he is believed not to be in the area any more.

Independence County Sheriff, Keith Bowers noted that we've come along way in the fight against meth and that it couldn't be done without the cooperation of every agency from the smallest up to the federal level.

The Arkansas DEA's office says this sting should make Arkansans feel more safe in knowing that all levels of government are working to make sure illegal activities come to an end.

Those convicted could face life in prison for these crimes.
