Sec. of State Reminds Businesses of May 1 Tax Deadline

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Arkansas Secretary of State Charlie Daniels is reminding business proprieters that annual reports must be filed and franchise taxes must be paid by May 1.

The filings are to be submitted to the secretary of state's business and commercial services division.

Secretary of State Charlie Daniels' office says all corporations, whether foreign or domestic, must pay to do business in Arkansas.  The state has 112,499 corporations that were reminded via mail or online of the coming deadline.  Businesses can pay between January and May 1.  Daniels' office says about 80 percent of the state's corporations pay the minimum franchise tax of $150.

Daniels says the taxes brought in $20.5 million last year.
