JPD Captures Suspected Jonesboro Bank Robber

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A Crimestoppers tip has led to the arrest of a suspect in this week's robbery of a Jonesboro bank.

Jonesboro Police say 49-year-old Elton Williams of Jonesboro was arrested this afternoon, in the alleged possession of crack cocaine.  Police say Williams had been living in Jonesboro recently, but hails from Helena-West Helena.

When he was escorted to the Craighead Co. Detention Center this afternoon, Williams reportedly indicated that he did not have a gun with him at the time of the robbery, which occured Tuesday afternoon at the Banccorp South branch in downtown Jonesboro.

Williams will also face drug-related charges due his alleged possession of crack at the time of his arrest.
