Delays, Closures Planned Monday Night on Memphis Bridges

MEMPHIS, TN - Tennessee transportation officials say there will be overnight delays early next week on the two interstate highway bridges spanning the Mississippi River at Memphis.

Crews will be installing message boards on the Hernando DeSoto Bridge, which carries Interstate 40, and on the Interstate 55 bridge.

Traffic will be stopped for 30-minute intervals between 8 p.m. Monday night and 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The electronic message boards are part of the TDOT SmartWay system, which also includes a new traffic management center, additional traffic cameras and broadcast advisories drivers can hear on their radios.
