LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Mike Beebe says Arkansas no longer needs an office in Washington to lobby for the state and will instead rely on its congressional delegation.
Beebe spokesman Matt DeCample today confirmed the governor's decision. Beebe last year said he was considering running the Washington office with a limited staff, but he never hired anyone for it.
The office had opened in 2003 under former Governor Mike Huckabee, who abandoned his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination in March. Beebe said in October that he would lease part of the office space to the Delta Regional Authority.
