SEMO Plans Campus Gathering Spot

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - Plans to build a tranquil gathering space complete with lush greens and a waterfall on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University are dividing the community.

Critics including some faculty and students say building the plaza for $490,000 is a misplaced priority.  Two other phases are planned at an unspecified cost.

Project manager Tom Hadler says the plaza will have ample seating, landscaping and outdoor space.

Critics cite the need to upgrade the facilities such as science labs.
