Lake Charles to Host WWII Battle Re-Enactment

POWHATAN, AR (KAIT) - Lake Charles State Park in Lawrence County will host a special World War II event on the weekend of June 21 and 22 "to honor all those who served during the war."  According to Assistant Park Superintendent Kendra Harris, "This event will have living history going on throughout the day on June 21st and 22nd.  A battle re-enactment is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, the 21st."

Park officials are also planning a public display board to honor all northeast Arkansas residents that served in WWII.  "We are asking for copies of pictures, which we can scan to make copies, stories, and what divisions our local veterans served in," said Harris.

For more information, contact Harris or Randall Watts at 870-878-6595, or e-mail Harris at Kendra.harris@arkansas.gov.
