BLOOMFIELD, MO - One of two men who escaped from a county jail in southeast Missouri is back in custody following his capture in northeast Arkansas, but a rape suspect remains on the loose.
The men escaped Monday night from the Stoddard County jail in Bloomfield. John Jones was captured late Tuesday morning in Rector. He had been jailed after an arrest last week on drug charges.
Still missing is 24-year-old Manual Ajanel, who was charged with forcible rape earlier this year. Sheriff Carl Hefner says the two escaped through an air conditioning duct in the ceiling. Jones apparently injured a foot during his escape. Clay County Sheriff Ronnie Cole told Region 8 News that Jones appeared to have a broken foot at the time of his capture.
