Rain Drives Out Campers in Flooded Campsites

ST. PAUL, AR - About 20 people had to be rescued from islands near the White River in northwest Arkansas as storms moved across the region.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says those camping near St. Paul had to be moved out Sunday night as the waters rose.  East of Elkins, authorities say they had to rescue several families whose cars were caught in river flooding.

"We've been coming here for years and years and seen flooding.  But nothing like this.  Nothing like this ever," camper Jessica Bender told Rogers television station KHOG.

More than three inches of rain fell during the fast-moving storm.
