Grievance Hearing for Fired Randolph Deputy is Tomorrow

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - A grievance hearing for a former Randolph County sheriff's deputy who was fired earlier this month is set for 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the Randolph County Courthouse in Pocahontas.  The hearing for Todd Grooms will be open to the public.

Grooms claims he was unjustly fired from the sheriff's dept. after he raided a private party at which several local teenagers were allegedly drinking alcohol following a prom on April 13.  Grooms issued several citations for underage drinking and also arrested one adult who had arrived at the party, being held inside a barn, after the deputy's arrival.

A short time later, several of the citations were dismissed by a local judge and Grooms was dismissed by Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble, who has repeatedly refused to talk with Region 8 News about the incident.

Grooms is being represented by Pocahontas attorney Roy Meeks.
