Campbell Man Killed by "Electric" Fence

CAMPBELL, MO (KAIT) - One man is dead after being electrocuted by a fence that was charged by leaning against a metal shed with an electrical short.

Campbell Police tell Region 8 News that they received the call at 11:24 p.m. Tuesday night.  When they arrived at the residence at 821 East Haynes, they found 19-year old Martine Jose Torres on the ground with several people administering CPR.

Medical teams transported Torres to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, the accident started when a metal fence had somehow leaned against a metal shed.  The electrical wiring in the shed shorted out, allowing electricity to flow through the shed walls and into the fence.

Torres had been standing in wet grass, according to witnesses, and reached for a shirt on the fence.  When he made contact with the fence, he was electrocuted.

Campbell Police have concluded in their investigation that this was accidental and no charges are expected to be filed.
