Unwelcome Snakes Making Their Way Indoors

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO - There have been a few reports of unwelcome snakes indoors in Cape Girardeau in recent days, including a pause in court procedings to remove a reptile.

Municipal court was interrupted Tuesday when a water snake got into City Hall and tried to slither up a wall.  An employee scoooped it into a coffee can.  The police department's nuisance abatement supervisor, Ty Metzger, later released it into a field.

Metzger says he received two more calls the next day about snakes in locations where they weren't welcome.  He says snakes start to migrate more when the weather warms up.
