Region 8 Woman Faces Drug Charges

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -- 29-year-old Renee Ann Tackett of Trumann is facing multiple drug charges out of two different Region 8 counties.

On Tuesday morning the Trumann Police Department executed a warrant at Tackett's home.  Trumann Police Chief Larry Blagg tells Region 8 News they found a half pound of ice; a highly potent form of methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia, powdered methamphetamine, three hand guns, and $1,800 in cash.

In Trumann Tackett is charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to use, and the simultaneous possession of fire arms and drugs.  Two enhancements are added to each charge for being within 1,000 feet of a church and 1,000 feet of a public playground.

A second warrant was served the same day at 3416 Bolt Boulevard at Sage Meadows in Jonesboro.

"During our search we located approximately one pound five ounces of cocaine, a little over 63 grams of methamphetamine ice, and we also located approximately $25,000 inside the residence," said an undercover Drug Task Force agent for the Jonesboro Police Department.

In Jonesboro, Tackett faces charges of possession of a controlled substance for crystal methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance for cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Jonesboro police say the home is owned by Sedric Anderson who is currently serving a ten year sentence for drug charges.

"The owner of the home is in the Arkansas Department of Corrections right now for some methamphetamine charges.  The female who has been arrested has a power of attorney over the residence," said the undercover officer.

They don't believe Tackett lived in the house on Bolt Boulevard, but used it as what Jonesboro Police call a "stash house".

"This just goes to show you in reaches out to all social economic people, you know, whether it be Sage Meadows or the rougher parts of town," said the officer.

Renee Tackett will be returned to jail in Trumann where she was first charged.  She will face those charges and the charges in Jonesboro.  Her next court date for Jonesboro is on July 31st.

At her probable cause hearing on Thursday she was issued a $300,000 bond.
