OBU is One Step Closer to Expansion

ARKADELPHIA, AR - The Arkadelphia City Council has approved issuing $41 million in bonds, a move that will enable Ouachita Baptist University to embark on a planned expansion of the campus.

The university announced in March it would spend $45 million to build residence halls for more than 500 students, a new entrance to the campus and other facility upgrades.

The student housing development is to include three residence halls, each with groups of eight suites for up to 32 students.

Construction is to start soon and is to take place in two phases.  The first phase is to be complete by fall 2009, with the second phase projected to finish a year later.  More than one-third of OBU's current student housing will be replaced under the program.
