Children's Summer Reading Program
Registration is underway. We offer a lengthy list of story times, which, of course, can be found at www.libraryinjonesboro.org. Our other big hit is our off-site performances which feature both local and nationally-touring acts. We take these events to the public, presenting them twice each Wednesday. The first performance is at 10 a.m. in Parker Park Community Center, 1522 N. Main Street. The second performance begins at 2 p.m. in the Mall at Turtle Creek.
Offsite Performance at 2 p.m. in the Mall at Turtle Creek: This week's performer is Emmy-award winning Doug Kincaid and the Kincaid Karacters.
Wednesday June 18, Dr. Goober T. Goodfoot, a clown that does, magic, a puppet show and comedy.
Young Adult Summer Reading Program
The Library has a close-knit group of teens who enjoy participating in book discussion groups, YA lock-ins, game-days and more. The library just purchased a Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 2 for the teens' use.
Adult Summer Reading Program
The library offers a self-paced reading program that allows adults to choose books that appeal to them for recreational reading that fits into their schedule. By making the most of their library, whether they're checking out books or attending library events, participants can earn chances to win a weekly prize drawing. You must be 18 or older to participate in this program.
The Library has a wonderful Friends of the Library organization that puts together a free summer concert series that's appropriate for all ages. There's a concert each Tuesday in June at 6:30 p.m. on the Oak Ave. Lawn at the Public Library, 315 W. Oak Ave. The library is also hosting a concert on July 1st with Bucksnort Hill. This pre-4th of July celebration begins at 6:30 p.m. on the Oak Ave. Lawn.
