Cars Damaged in Fire at NWA Airport

HIGHFILL, AR - Authorities say more than ten vehicles were damaged in a parking lot fire at the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport.

The fire began Tuesday in a 2001 Jeep Wrangler that was parked in a long-term lot.  Airport Executive Director Scott Can Laningham says the fire spread to two other vehicles, and damaged at least eight others.

Officials say the Jeep, a Ford Explorer and a GMC Yukon were seriously damaged and towed from the airport lot.  Van Laningham says the airport is trying to contact the owners of the vehicles.  He says the fire, which is under investigation, did not pose a security threat to the airport.
