PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT)- As of 10:45 a.m. Monica Cluck has now taken the stand in her own criminal trial. She is currently talking about her background with her job and her husband. Below are some direct quotes from her testimony.
"I loved my job. I absolutely did. It was a passion in my life. I loved going to work everyday. It was my stability. It was something that I knew I could do right. I didn't want to go home, but I did because my mom and dad would say marriage is for life and you have to work it out."
"I knew the charges had been filed against me, and I knew it would be good for the school, the kids, or the parents. I talked to the principal and told him I wanted to resign."
"Towards the last 6 months of my marriage, I was spending probably two nights a week with someone who had been in the group (Singing Hands) or was in the group. I didn't want to go home."
In reference to the Singing Hands Group: "I felt needed there. They would talk to me about their problems. I would listen, because a lot of times they just wanted someone to listen to."
"I wanted them to know that church is fun. Listening to the message is very important, but getting involved is also very important."
When talking about her relationship with her husband Jeff: "He would call me names (crying)...I'm sorry. (takes a tissue)...He would call me names. He would compare me a lot to his mother, and he would say I couldn't clean, I couldn't cook. I couldn't do anything right."
Cluck is currently talking about a lock-in at the church where it was alleged she had sex with a 15-year-old boy. So far she is denying that anything happened.
I'll bring you the latest as the trial continues.
