New Jobs Coming to Jonesboro

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) -- Over 100 new jobs are coming to Region 8 and all of them can be done from the privacy of your own home.

N.E.W. Customer Service Companies Inc. will be hiring about 120 people over the next year to work as customer service representatives.

Director of Customer Care Operations for the Work at Home Group Karen Rish said the positions provide a great opportunity for potential employees.

"It's an opportunity for an employee to be connected to a very successful organization who does customer service and troubleshooting for the DirecTV customer and gets to do it all from the comfort of their own home," said Karen Rish.

Craighead County Judge Dale Haas said these jobs will be great for this area, especially with the rising price for fuel to get to and from work.

"You don't have the price of fuel to go to and from your job.   You have the security to be in your home to do this type of work.  I think with today's technology it's a great opportunity for some people that want to stay at home and work," said Haas.

A consulting firm did a study for N.E.W. that shows that 50% of the Jonesboro work force comes from outside of the city.  These positions would allow some of those people to save hundreds of dollars on fuel.

Rish said the positions require basic computer and typing skills, an internet connection, and a phone line connection.  Potential employees also need customer service skills and some troubleshooting experience.  While 120 employees is their initial estimate the company does have the potential to grow.

A job fair will be held on July 8th from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and on July 9th from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Interviews for the positions will start immediately and the first 20 people hired will attend a six week, company paid training program at the ASU Delta Training Center that starts on August 25th.
