Bootheel Authorities Charge Suspect in Murder of Paragould Man

Joseph W. Hardin Joseph W. Hardin

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) - A 41-year-old south Arkansas man has been arrested and charged in southeast Missouri with the murder of a Paragould man.  Lt. Ryan Holder of the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Dept. said Joseph W. Hardin of Hazen has been formally charged with first degree murder in the death of Albert Harper.

Harper's body was found Tuesday morning behind a farm shop near Hayti Heights.  "Soon after establishing the identity of the victim, investigators gathered evidence of Harden's involvement in the murder," said Lt. Holder.  Police located the suspect by tracking his cell phone signal, and he was soon taken into custody at a residence in Kennett.  Hardin also faces charges of armed criminal action (4 counts) and robbery (1 count).  He faces formal arraignment today, and is being held without bond in the Pemiscot County Jail.

Meanwhile, Hardin's brother, 38-year-old Glen Alan Harden of Campbell, has also been charged in connection with the case, on one count of hindering prosecution.  His bond was set at $20,000.
