Delivery Man Fights Off Robbers With Pizza Bag

CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) - A pizza delivery man made his delivery and was headed back to his car when a couple of alleged robbers approached and demanded money. The delivery guy fought back...with his pizza bag!

Terry Lynn Welch of Portageville is a delivery guy for Pizza Hut. He was making a delivery to the 800 block of Belle Sunday night at around 10:00 p.m. when Caruthersville Police say 2 would-be-robbers approached him and demanded money. Instead of giving them the cash, Welch says he gave them a fight.

The report taken by Caruthersville Police says that Welch began swinging his pizza delivery bag, which was empty of course because he had just completed a delivery. Apparently, his swings connected with the suspects because shortly thereafter, both ran away on foot.

Welch was not injured during the attempted robbery.

The Caruthersville Police Department is still investigating the incident.

Region 8 News will have an interview with the delivery driver tonight at five and six.
