JONESBORO (KAIT) There's no doubt that drugs are still a huge problem in Jonesboro and other towns in Region 8.
A movement began Thursday night to bring the community involvement to a higher level in the war on drugs.
Attorney Skip Mooney is spearheading a movement to get the community more involved in the war on drugs.
Calling for community action Mooney hosted a meeting Thursday night at the Huntington building with over 200 in attendence.
Jonesboro police chief Mike Yates told the crowd that drug use is cyclical and compared this drug wave to the one in the 60's and 70's. The difference Yates says is that this cycle "will have violence."
Mooney says that in his opinion drugs are becoming more powerful and addictive and there has to be more community involvement.
